Quote by David Hume and John Lennox plus Comment:
Science (Scientific Method) makes is statements and not ought statements.
(italics added)
David Hume
comment:
The bus leaves at 5pm is an is statement
I ought to leave by 4:45 to make the bus is not an ought statement in the real meaning of the word.
I should leave at 4:45 if I want to make the bus; however, in this case, only if we apply a slight of mind or slight of logic we can confuse the meaning of ought to mean if I want to. Ought means what we ought to do morally or what we ought to do that is a moral obligation. See... I have no moral obligation to catch the bus by leaving at 4:45, only that if I wish to catch it or not I should leave by 4:45.
How can any is or how can any configuration of genetics or whatever impose moral obligation on us. ... how can we get from science to ethics?
